The Role
The Operations practice was created in 2006 in M&A Transaction Services and has experienced rapid growth due to its success at offering a "Private Equity focus and mindset" delivering actionable and quantified improvement upside to corporate and private equity clients. The team is made up of dedicated specialists, working on buy and sell transactions with PE firms and corporate M&A teams, leveraging information and industry networks inside and outside our global client to best suit the situation. In recent years there has also been an upsurge in the requirement for corporate assist work as clients seek to run their organisations as efficiently as possible in the face of the economic downturn and the lack of appetite for transactions.
The Operations Strategy Group sits between Management Consulting and M&A Transaction Services. One of Partners in the European Operational Strategy Group was formerly a Partner from McKinsey & Company, where he was a founder and core leader of the McKinsey Operations Practice. He has pioneered the application of lean thinking across a number of sectors. Our client are are building a world-class Operational Strategy Group which now comprises 6 partners and 70 dedicated staff. Their intention is to be the market leading provider of operations strategy advice and to triple the size of the group over the next 3 years as market demand for our services continues to grow. The people within the department have a wide range of hands-on sector experience including industrial, telecoms, retail, utilities, high tech and infrastructure. They have worked in cost reduction delivery, lean transformation, organisation re-structure, back-office streamlining and turnaround, within tight timeframes
The responsibilties attributable to the role will include the following:
• Performing sound modelling and traceability following protocols, largely using Excel to analyse financial and operational performance and quantify opportunities
• Presenting the business facts/case to the client
• Supply chain, lean, procurement, cost reduction or turnaround skills are desirable
• Performing risk management tasks
• Conducting detailed client interviews at varying levels

• Must be trained at least to Bachelor Degree level from a top University. Masters degrees or Post Bachelors qualifications (ACA, CIMA) are desirable but not essential
• Must have a minimum of 1-3 years work experience for a leading global firm (e.g.FTSE 100) having completed a graduate scheme or worked for a consultancy
• Structured thinking and problem solving
• Enthusiasm and energy to proactively seek optimal outcomes
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities
• A drive to work through ambiguity to arrive at quantified solutions
• Team working
• Have the right to work in the UK
