Job Description

The Advisory Services business is a fast-growing division within our client. A dynamic group focused on providing high value independent, trusted advice to clients, with a focus on business transformation programmes and financial management. The key to their success will be in helping these clients solve difficult business issues throughout a range of areas from finance to business performance, re-engineering to programme assurance.

The Finance Management service line works with clients to address issues of importance to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in creating value and delivering world-class finance capabilities. Working closely with industry groups and leveraging this huge consulting brand as independent, trusted advisors, they provide their high profile clients with the following range of services:

Finance Transformation & Finance Performance Improvement, which includes;

Diagnosis: Provide an assessment of the current performance of the finance function and identify areas where improvements in efficiency and effectiveness can be achieved
Vision and Strategy for Finance: Support the finance function in gaining consensus and commitment to a clearly articulated set of value propositions for finances roles and a plan for transformation into a world class function.
Process and Controls Design: standardising and simplifying processes and controls to make the best use of technology and enable cost effective operation and sustainable regulatory compliance.


Shared Services, which includes;

Shared services and Outsourcing support: preparing the business case and developing the options for shared services and outsourcing. Supporting the client in; selecting and managing outsourcing providers, or designing and building their own shared service centres.


Planning & Performance Management, which includes;

Fast Close and Reporting: enabling finance to report internally and externally faster and to higher quality standards.
Performance Measures and Data Structures: helping finance to define an effective set of performance measures and reports which will focus the business on the delivery of strategy and business plans. Creating data structures which capture data at an appropriate level to support performance management and ad-hoc decisions. To assist businesses in becoming more 'forward looking', as opposed to being 'historically focused / driven'.


Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting, which includes;

Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting: helping finance build financial models using data from financial systems and other sources, to support strategic planning; involvement in the preparation of business plans; financial analysis to support business decisions; devising metrics to measure the success of strategies; involvement in budget target setting and reporting performance against targets; providing support for annual budget and forecasts; involvement in variance analysis and follow-up; improvement of planning, forecasting & budgeting processes

We are seeking individuals who can demonstrate real impact within business and help transform the finance functions of some of the world's most respected commercial and public sector organisations. We are seeking individuals with consulting experience or individuals who have gained significant project and business improvement experience within large recognised firms.

Qualifications Required:

Primary Degree (2.1) or above, from a leading university
Qualified Accountant - ACA, CIMA or ACCA
Currently working in either: Big 4, global management consultancy firm or Blue Chip organization with an appropriate financial & performance management background, a track record of project delivery, business development and demonstrable skills in a specific area of financial management.
Should have 3-10 years + experience, showing a driven and accelerated career trajectory.


No requirement for sector specialism but strong insight into one or more of the following:
Government & Public Sector
Financial Services
Energy, Chemicals & Utilities
Consumer Products
Industrial Products
Technology, Communications & Entertainment
Healthcare


Prerequisite Skills / Experience:
The candidate should possess a good understanding in most of the remaining skills and demonstrate experience of one line role and one project or one large project in one or more of the areas listed:

Shared Services - Design, Evaluation & Implementation
Business Process Outsourcing
Finance Strategy & Transformation
Finance Organisation Strategy
Finance Function Effectiveness
Performance Management (Activity Based Costing, World Class Finance, Activity Based Management Reporting, Value Based Management and Balanced Scorecards)
Revenue Assurance, Diagnostics & Leakage
Enabling Tools which improve the finance function effectiveness (eg. Cognos, Hyperion etc…)
ERP* (eg. SAP, Oracle etc…) - Expertise related to the application & associated processes not just ERP Implementations.
